The House Appropriations Committee just released the fiscal year 2014 Interior and Environment Appropriations bill which funds the Department of the Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Forest Service, and various independent and related agencies. The bill’s $24.3 billion in base funding cuts 19%, $5.5 billion, from FY13 fiscal year 2013 enacted level (-19%) and $4 billion below current spending after sequester cuts. The bill also contains $1.5 billion in emergency spending on wildfires, that it offsets with the rescission of unused funding from the 2009 “stimulus” legislation.
