Reform The Cornerstone Of Annual Defense Bill | |
WASHINGTON – Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-TX), Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee today released the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for FY16. The NDAA is the primary legislative vehicle Congress meets its most important constitutional obligation to “provide for the common defense.” It advances the vital funding and authorities America’s military requires. In an era of unprecedented threat, uncertainty, and technological change, Chairman Thornberry’s legislation ensures America’s Armed Forces are agile, efficient, ready, and lethal. In releasing his proposal, Chairman Thornberry said: “This year’s NDAA will begin a process of much needed reform to the Department of Defense. These reforms are designed to recruit and retain America’s best and brightest, ensure that our forces maintain their technological edge, and to balance resources from the ‘tail’ to the ‘tooth’ of the force. Our country has never before faced the spectrum of varied and serious threats to our security that we face today. Beginning to make these reforms, and seeing the reform process through in the future, is vital if we are to overcome these challenges. “ The House Armed Services Committee will meet at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 29th, to consider the Chairman’s proposal.
